THE IMPERFECTIONISTA

Are you tired of talking about “living authentically” and ready to learn what that means…for you? Is perfectionism driving you into the shame of feeling “not enough”?
Then it’s time to embrace your authentic imperfect life!

Hi! I am Katie Thies aka The Imperfectionista. I run online and in-person creative experiential coaching workshops. I work with big-hearted, curious souls who want to learn, laugh and love. I push people to discover new things about themselves and how they relate to others using creative exercises, movement explorations, and play. I have developed unique experiential coaching workshops with a creative, out-of-the-box flair. I specialize in work with recovering perfectionists and codependents.

I believe imperfection is real, authentic, and shockingly beautiful

Definitions

Cre•a•tive:

involving the imagination or original ideas; the ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules, patterns, or relationships, and to create meaningful new ideas and interpretations, etc.

Ex•pe•ri•en•tial:

(learning) the process of making meaning from direct experience, i.e., “learning from experience”

Coach•ing:

a process by which an individual is supported in creating life improvements, behavioral change, or reaching goals

Why group work?

I believe working in groups allows us a safe space to practice being vulnerable. It gives us the opportunity to try out new behaviors in a safe and supportive environment. I also LOVE to see the sense of community formed throughout group sessions. Whether over ten weeks or one day, people create connections through shared experience, and the deeper and more meaningful and experience, the deeper and more meaningful the connection.

My Story

I love what I do. It’s easy to talk about my education and work history… and while those things have helped to create a solid base of knowledge and expertise, it has been my personal experiences that have guided my heart to this work.

I have struggled. I have felt pain and experienced trauma and loss. I have felt scared and hopeless. I have lost touch with myself, and have forgotten how to have fun and experience joy.

And yet out of those struggles…I have grown, defined, and even re-defined myself. I understand that life is a work in progress. I have changed careers. I have moved across oceans. I have ended relationships. I have gotten help when it was hard. I have learned how to be vulnerable, and have also learned that I have to continually practice being vulnerable! I regularly experience joy and wonder. I am passionate about learning and travel to explore the world and my place in it. I live imperfectly, and I love it.

I also have a diverse back ground. Fun facts…

I love learning and am a geek at heart. I have trained with and worked alongside some amazing folks, including: Brené Brown, Marie Forleo, Margaret Moore, Bob Tschannan Moran, Brent Anderson, Dawn Marie Ikes.
This is where I find continual inspiration to keep learning and growing.

I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. My first business was a neighborhood pet-sitting business that I started at age 11. Since then I have crafted and sold fashion flip-flops, had my own photography business, run a dance theatre company, had my own Pilates studio, and built a coaching practice. I have had a lot of business cards!
This is how I have learned how to run a business.

I worked in the world of international corporate law for nearly 7 years. I started in research and worked my way up to management.
This is where I fell in love with coaching and team development.

I have always had a passion for creating. Over the years I have tried my hand at many things including: painting, set design, quilting, welding, animation, performance art, glass blowing, costume design and construction, embroidery, singing, graphic design, sculpture, choreography, baking and playing the standing bass.
This is why I am always creating something.
